Finding Melbourne’s Nature is a project I’ve created to explore the reserves, remnant bushland, and wild edges scattered throughout urban Melbourne — the places that often go unnoticed but play a vital role in conservation.
As someone who works in nature conservation, I’ve spent years walking through these sites, learning their stories, and working with the people who care for them. I wanted to slow down, revisit these places on foot, and have conversations with the Traditional Owners, scientists, land managers, and community members who’ve helped shape and protect them.
This project is about listening — to people, to places, and to the subtle rhythms of nature in the city. It’s about understanding why these areas matter, not just ecologically, but culturally and emotionally too.
Through walking interviews, podcasts, writing, and audio storytelling, I hope to reconnect others with Melbourne’s living landscapes — and show that even in a busy, growing city, nature still holds space for wonder, resilience, and meaning.
